The faculty at the Lower School currently comprises:

Janet Devenish ISTD CDE Ballet, Tap and Modern, ARAD, Cert Ed (Performing Arts) PC, Deputy Principal, Stella Mann College
Janet trained at Bush Davies for 7 years and enjoyed a diverse performing career. She was originally in a ballet company and went on to appear in many musicals, including 42nd St, Lust, The Baker's Wife and Phantom of the Opera in the West End. She created the role of Meg Giry in Phantom and can be heard on the cast albums of Phantom and The Baker's Wife. Janet co-choreographed Chicago for the English Theatre Frankfurt, created the role of Drusilla in the Worst Witch number 1 tour and played Cissie Blitzstein Blitz in Newcastle. She has worked with Trevor Nunn, Gillian Lynne, Hal Prince, Gillian Gregory, and as a performer for and assistant to David Toguri, Kenn Oldfield, and Irving Davies, amongst many others. Prior to joining the college full-time, Janet toured the world with Vanessa-Mae as a backing vocalist and dancer having taught Vanessa to dance when she was 15. Choreography work includes 7 musicals for the Rugby Youth project, 2 for Chatham Youth Theatre, tap numbers for 2 pantomimes in which she also appeared in Bromley and a tap trio for Ronnie Corbett and Friends at the Fairfield Hall in Croydon. Currently Janet teaches Musical Theatre, Tap, Professional Employment Skills and Ballet at the College where she has worked since 1996. She also runs the Stella Mann College Agency. Janet teaches non-syllabus senior ballet for the Lower School.

Noreen Banks A.R.A.D (Dip.P.D.T.C.)
Noreen started her professional training at the Arts Educational School, Tring, transferring to the upper school for the final two years. From an early age she danced with the London Festival Ballet (English National Ballet) in The Nutcracker and Cinderella. While training, Noreen was awarded the Markova Award, the highest classical award, presented and adjudicated by Dame Alicia Markova. After graduating Noreen started her professional career working in England and Europe dancing soloist and principal roles in The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland and also in contemporary styles and modern ballets. Noreen has also appeared on television, radio and danced in a Freddy Mercury video. In 1994 Noreen decided to train to be a teacher on the RAD Professional Dancers Teaching Course, graduating with Distinction. Since then she has been a freelance teacher, until joining Masters Performing Arts College in 1999. Noreen also teaches at The Italia Conti and the I.C. Saturday Associate School in Barbican. At present Noreen is studying the Imperial Ballet syllabus and has recently completed her FDI exam. Noreen teaches Ballet at Stella Mann College and for the Lower School.

Hannah Davies RAD STC, ISTD FDI Modern and Tap and Trinity College National Diploma in Professional Dance
Hannah started her career at Stella Mann College undertaking a three year performing course, passing with a performing and teaching diploma and a NVQ 4 in dance validated by Trinity College. This gave her the spring board required to work within the dance industry, performing abroad and at home and eventually gaining enough experience to perform on cruise ships for the Costa/Carnival co operation which was something she always wanted to do. Hannah is currently teaching for the Graham school of dance in Hertfordshire and of course here at Stella Mann Lower School where she teaches ballet.

Karlie-Louise Dell – 3rd year student
Karlie is currently in her 3rd year of training at Stella Mann College. She taught Lower School jazz last year and is now a regular member of the Lower School faculty. She teaches jazz technique and combinations.

Rebecca Farnhill AISTD Ballet, Tap, Modern, RAD registered teacher, ARAD
Rebecca trained for three years at Stella Mann College and achieved advanced exams in all forms of dance and four teaching qualifications. After teaching at the College for two years after her graduation, Rebecca took a year's sabbatical in order to focus on jazz dance. She returned to the College in 2000 and she now specialises in teaching jazz. Rebecca teaches jazz and modern for the Lower School.

Verity Lloyd BA (Hons) Performing Arts ISTD FDI Tap and Modern
Verity is currently continuing her studies at De Montfort University after being awarded a First Class BA (Hons) in Performing Arts, through which she focussed on a variety of Theatre, Performance and Dance based modules. At this moment in time she is reading for a Post Graduate Certificate in Education in order to teach the G.C.S.E and A level curriculum at Secondary level. She has trained previously at Sylvia Young’s Theatre School, Barrett Smith School of Dance and Drama and BYT, and in her early days gained work experience as a Performing Arts teacher at the North Hertfordshire Centre for the Arts. Verity has been dancing for 17 years and has completed all of the I.S.T.D Tap and Modern Syllabuses. She is currently the Mid Bedfordshire dance leader for the Bedfordshire Youth Dance Company (Sandy Company), and continues to run a variety of extra curricular dance and drama based activities within local schools. She has performed in numerous professional performances including ‘The Crossing Path’ National Theatre. ‘The All England Dance Festival’ Sadlers Wells. ‘Pinocchio’ Main Stage, Edinburgh Festival and ‘Aladdin’ Gordon Craig Theatre. Verity teaches tap and modern for the Lower School.
