Student Welfare

The College has access to a private medical scheme for schools, which is available to students under 18 years of age. We recommend dance specific chartered physiotherapists practising in the area, and we also can refer cases to a London consultant. Regular visits from nutritionists, sports therapists and physiotherapists enable staff and students to keep abreast of current trends and developments.

Accommodation Information
Most students rent flats and houses in the area, and the College has forged links with local estate agents in order to provide ample provision. Some students commute, by train to Bedford Mainline Station, which is a five-minute walk from the College, or by car.

Pastoral Care
The College has two designated Welfare Officers, who are always on hand to discuss any problems a student may have. If a problem needs referring to a practitioner of any kind, the College has many contacts and sources.

Students' Comments:

Adrian Stokes, 2007 graduate.
First contract – ‘We Will Rock You’ Zurich and Vienna 2007/2008

‘I enjoyed my three years at Stella Mann College very much. I feel that the first two years really helped my technique and during the third year, I feel that I developed professionally. The teachers helped me develop in many different ways. I thank them all.’

Michael Peters, 2007 graduate.
First contract – ‘Thad’ in the Original West End cast of ‘Hairspray’ 2007

'When I was thirteen I started taking dance classes in commercial street jazz. From there on I did two years of acting and at that point hated musical theatre. Once I started Stella Mann College it broadened my horizons and studying musical theatre gave me an insight to a subject that perhaps I did not hate! Not only did I enjoy but I learnt new skills from that genre too. My training and hard work has enabled me to reach a level that has been the key to the West End. I would like to thank all the staff at Stella Mann College who encouraged and supported me.'

Carla Porter - 2005 graduate
'The last 3 years being at Stella Mann have been the best of my life. It has been a dream come true to train which such a professional team. I have recently graduated with a National Diploma in Musical Theatre and thanks to all the members of staff I feel confident and ready to now go and perform. I have gained so much experience in every field and achieved all my goals whilst at Stella Mann. It really is like you are a member of a family whilst training here. Everyone encourages each other and the overall atmosphere is amazing. I can truthfully say that I wouldn’t have changed a thing whilst being at Stella Mann and they were my happiest years ever!!!!'

Rachelle Glover 2005 graduate
' Stella Mann College has given me the best three years of my life. The training I went through was very professional and challenging. I improved tremendously in all aspects of dance, singing and acting over the three years. I gained so much more confidence in everything that I did and I have the teachers to thank for that! They have helped me grow to be a confident woman and all round performer to a high standard.'

Serina Chapman 2005 graduate
'I have really enjoyed my 3 years at Stella Mann. I have made some great lifelong friends and was lucky enough to experience some of the most amazing teachers! Got the chance to learn some amazing choreography and build a strong technique. It has really helped me to prepare myself what the real world is like. Thank you Stella Mann for turning me into a professional.'

Gemma Smith 2005 graduate
' I think I’d sum my three years up at Stella Mann College as an amazing learning experience. There was always a teacher or a student in a higher year giving you something to aspire to. I also found it a really supportive environment to work in and grow as a performer. I always felt there was the support for me to make mistakes or fall over in class without feeling embarrassed or as though it was going to be held against me by any teacher or my peers.'

Katy Stephenson 2004 graduate
' My three years at Stella Mann College were brilliant. You get very close attention from the staff and worked really hard, which I really liked!! All the staff were really friendly and extremely helpful. There is a great atmosphere at the college. Going to Stella Mann College really helped me be the performer that I knew I could be!'
